Sue did quite the job with interviewing both John Marsden
and Alice Pung. It was very interesting in a different way to the session we
watched this morning. It allowed us as readers to get the chance to have a
glimpse into other classes of society. The whole idea of class and how each
individual within a certain class looks at others. Alice mentioned how as a
poor child all the things she considered beautiful were actually considered
tacky to the kids who belonged to a higher class of society. John even had a
lot to say about what it was like writing a historical piece and mentioned the
book of Jobe within the piece. It was very interesting and something I would be
considering to read. Each of the two authors had quite a lot to say and it was
a shame that the session had to come to an end because each of their stories
had significant impact on themselves as writers and on the characters within
their pieces of text.
